Bible Based Constitution
An 81year old Benjamin Franklin led every Constitutional Convention session in prayer, asking for Devine guidance in shaping our nation.
The principles of our constitution was heavily influenced by the Bible, especially the book of Deuteronomy. Our laws today are based on this book. Deuteronomy is the most quoted book in the New Testament.
Our three branches of government was based on Isaiah 33:22. It states: "For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is or king, HE will save us." (NIV) Its' worked pretty well. The average constitution has lasted 17 years. The US Constitution has lasted over 250 years and counting. By far, the most successful governmental document ever.
SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
The phrase " Separation of Church and State" is not in the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson used this phrase in a a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association many years after the Constitutional Convention. The main points were as follows:
--The government shall not create an official religion.
--The free exercise to practice religion as long as it does not harm others
The attempt to twist this phrase to take God out of government is blasphemy. Many years later, Bible verses were engraved at the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and many other government
structures and are on display to this day.
